Thallus endophloeodal to epiphloeodal, to c. 400 µm thick, partly bulging and flaking away from the substratum, pale greyish green, dull, smooth, rugose to verrucose, non-rimose. Protocortex thin, discontinuous, to c. 15 µm thick. Algal layer well developed, continuous; calcium oxalate crystals abundant, large, scattered. Vegetative propagules not seen. Ascomata inconspicuous, to c. 0.6 mm diam., ±rounded to irregular in fused ascomata, apothecioid or perithecioid, erumpent, regenerating, solitary to marginally fused, immersed. Disc occasionally becoming partly visible from above, whitish, epruinose. Pores small to moderately broad, to c. 0.35 mm diam., rounded to angular, formed by the apical margin of the proper exciple; pore margin/visible part of the proper exciple split, off-white to dark brown or blackish, incurved. Proper exciple apically free, thick, yellowish brown internally, distinctly carbonised marginally, non-amyloid. Hymenium to c. 120 µm thick; paraphyses straight; lateral paraphyses short but conspicuous, to c. 15 µm long; columellar structures absent; subhymenium ±distinctly carbonised. Epihymenium occasionally with fine greyish granules. Asci 8-spored; tholus initially thick, becoming thin. Ascospores transversely septate in younger stages, ±submuriform at maturity, fusiform to clavate, with ±rounded to subacute ends, hyaline, non-amyloid, 25–35 × 7–10 µm, with 10–14 × 1–2 (–3) locules; locules rounded, oblong to lentiform; end cells hemispherical to conical; transverse septa thin, regular; ascospore wall thinly halonate; endospore thick. CHEMISTRY: None. |

Known only from the type locality in north-eastern N.S.W.; grows on bark in warm-temperate rainforest (altitude 850 m). | ||
